Select Health Individual Health Insurance Company Overview
Select Health is the most popular individual health insurance company servicing Utah. We estimate Select Health serves more than 65% of all Utahns who buy their own coverage. That’s roughly 270,000 Utahns.
Select Health is a subsidiary of Intermountain Healthcare. It is well-known for its provider networks which give access to Intermountain facilities.
Select Health offers many different types of plans. Some plans include low deductibles and copays. Other plans are high-deductible. These include “HSA-qualified” plans. HSA stands for health savings accounts. HSA-qualified plans allow policyholders to contribute to HSAs tax-free.
Select Health Provider Networks
Select Health offers the choice of three networks: Med, Value, and Signature.
The Med network is best for those looking for comprehensive network throughout Utah, as well access to some providers and facilities in Idaho and Nevada.
The Value network is best for those looking for a mid-sized network for less money.
The Signature network is best for those looking for small network for even less money.
If you live in a zip code covered by the Value and/or Signature networks, you will have the option to pick your network. Otherwise, you will default to the Med network.
The Med network covers more geography and providers than the Value and Signature networks. Thus, it costs more. A plan with the Med network will cost more than the same plan with the Value network. And a plan with the Value network will cost more than the same plan with the Signature network.
You can use Select Health's provider lookup tool to search providers in each network.
Here’s a visual overview of each network:

When you look at a Select Health plan, be sure to note whether it is the Med, Value, or Signature network version.
